Inspiration.51

So for anyone who is following me on Instagram (you can follow me here if you haven’t already), you might have seen that I recently started taking up cycling.

Throughout all of lockdown, I’ve been exploring my local area by foot and have improved my fitness hugely because of this. I’ve been able to walk 5 miles everyday no problem (sometimes 7 if I finish work on time and can go further) and on the weekend I can quite happily do a 15 mile walk.

It’s not flat where I live either, so this is a huge achievement for me.

But now I want to take it one step further and try out cycling. Luckily we’ve been looking after my grandparents bikes that they purchased 30 years ago! They still work, except for an incredibly squeaky brake, and slightly dodgy gears. But you know what it’s fine.

I’m so pleased as I managed to 20 miles on it over the weekend, and although I got over taken several times by “professional” cyclists I was so pleased with myself. But you know what just because I’m slow doesn’t mean I’m not trying, slow and steady wins the race and all that.

So this week’s inspirational post is to help motivate you. If I can do it, then so can you!

  1. I am so proud of you for taking up cycling, we have some fantastic rides to do together in the future, as your quote says it takes time to build up the stamina to tackle huge hills, it took me months, but if you carry on doing it you will smash it and then you will be overtaking those professionals. You can do it and I have every hope and faith in myself xx

    1. Thanks that means a lot – just taking things one day at a time. Already seen a huge improvement over the months. Just hoping that this quote will help motivate other people as well, as it’s a great feeling when you can see the difference a few months make in improving fitness (or anything really, a skill, a hobby, etc)! x
