Review: This book is magical.
I love that it is a book that is aimed at adults and is still able to bring in the magical element of fairies and magical beings.
The world that is created in this book is inventive and detailed – I felt that I had been completed transported to another realm. The different Courts of faeries are an element that adds great originality to this story, further showing that the author had put great thought into this book, rather than letting it all play out by itself.
The creativeness that had gone into the character development was a huge bonus with this book – the relationships that the characters had with each other was enjoyable to read and learn more about as the book progressed. Tamlin and Feyre – do I even need to explain how their relationship was just an exceptionally good pairing. I loved the two of them together and the fact that they don’t automatically get together was a huge bonus. It made the book more entertaining and kept me reading, as all I could think of was ‘when will these two just kiss already?’
The fact that there is some tension (and when I say I say tension I mean it in a good way) between the two of them just added to the pure joy of seeing their relationship grow and become something much more. This book is heavily based on the romance between these two and although there are other important things going on, I firmly believe that these two characters being together are what made this book truly special. A good love interest makes for an admirable story, but a great love interest (like the one between Tamlin and Feyre) is spectacular.
I know that this book is only the first of the book series, and I am aware that the relationships change, but even so I am looking forward to reading what lies in store for Feyre in the next books because she is an intriguing character. One that is full of fire, she is a hunter and a painter, a lover and a young girl who gets thrusts into a bigger plan to help save this one court. There are many elements that surround this girl and she is, in the end, an incredibly likable and strong woman.
This is a very good book to read if you want to be transported to another realm, a magical realm if I may add.
