Review: First off, isn’t the cover for this book gorgeous? Even before reading the book, the cover just screams magic and I know you should never judge a book by its cover – but I mean it really did catch my eye.
Now back to business.
I love these types of stories, the type of stories that don’t just use the real world as a premise for their ideas, they actually use magically ideas. This for me is a perfect read because I love the idea of being taken into a completely different setting – a different world.
I really liked Wendy as the main character, even though at times she acted before really thinking things through. However, the character development that came with Wendy was very subtle but brilliantly done and what one must remember is that she is only 17.
The narration that Wendy is given is also rather pleasing to read. There is nothing complicated about it. Yet it still produced a strong and clear image for what the author is describing.
Now, let’s talk about romance.
Wendy has more boy ‘trolls’ after her than she can keep track of. They are all nice in their own way, but they each have their unique traits. Finn is protective. Loki is a flirt. Tove is like a brother. I loved them all.
Although there is ultimately only one that I want her to end up with at the end of the trilogy – but I’m not saying who I’m rooting for.
This series about trolls surprised and entertained me. I will definitely be looking for more Amanda Hocking’s books to read because they really are quite enjoyable, easy and ultimately a fun read.
