Review: So I really liked that this wasn’t your typical Vampire book – I mean there’s nothing about wanting to drink someone’s blood, so that was quite nice. Particularlly, as this book was also compared to ‘Twilight’ and other similar books.
Certain things in the book hinted at the whole vampire vibe, that being a red (mysterious) drink, which leads to incredible speed and never getting ill. This is clearly the point which led people into believing that there were vampires in this book, but the way that the authors works around this issue is quite interesting.
It was because of this reason that I felt like this book was a bit more orginal compared to other Paranormal Romance books.
I loved the sisterly relationship in the book – the scenes that involved the two of them, were some of my favourite parts. And even with Ever having the abiltity to see her sister, she is still able to hold a sense of realism (although to be honest, this is a book about immortals…).
I really did enjoy the character development of Damon – it’s quite clear from the start that there is something different about him, but as to what it is exactly, that remains slightly mysterious until later on in the book. I cannot wait to learn more about his history in the next books in the series.
Alyson Noël clearly had put a lot of thought into this book – what with her ‘unique’ idea of what the Afterlife is like. It was well thought out and very easy book to understand.
If you like these kind of books, then you will certainly enjoy this one. And what is even better about this book, is that it is something that is a little bit different because for me sometimes they feel a little bit similar. But not this one.
