Welcome to Christine’s life.

Review: I could not put this book down.

It had me gripped right from the very start. For a debut novel, this is absolutely outstanding.

The best part about this book is that at the start it all seems normal and then as the book progresses you realise that something isn’t quite right, but you can’t put your finger on it. Even when the big reveal does show itself, the suspense still doesn’t end because there is still this huge sense of danger that surrounds Christine.

It’s the kind of book that completely gets under your skin, making you unable to put it down until you’ve finished reading it. It gets you to read just one more page before you go to bed, and then another and another after that.

The reason that I did not give this book 5 stars is because I could kind of guess what was going to happen by the middle of the book. I mean it wasn’t completely obvious, but it’s clear that something isn’t right with her ‘husband’. I was hoping that it was going to be a misleading thing, where it all seems to lead to one conclusion but its actually a different one complete. However, this was not the case.

It’s still a very good mystery/thriller because even though I vaguely knew how it was going to the end, the author was brilliant at keeping me, as the reader, wanting to know more. Mainly, how the book would conclude and at least the ending made sense, and not one of those endings that seem so out of the blue that they are disappointing.

This book was not a disappointment at all, it was, in fact, rather enjoyable and like I said earlier, I could not put it down.

This is the perfect book if you want something that is a little different to your everyday romance books. You almost feel like a heavy weight has been placed on your shoulder – this is not a bad thing, it is actually rather good because it felt like I really connected to the main character, as I wanted everything to be fine for her. I wanted her to get her memory back and I liked the way that her regaining her memory was done.

Although, one other issue is that in the book she writes everything down, but in my opinion, who has time to write all that stuff down and still do stuff in their day? I don’t know, maybe I’m just not that talented at doing stuff.

You can see that this is a little bit of an issue (not that major because it doesn’t really affect the book), as in the film adaption she did a recorded video diary instead. (The film is also worth a watch, mainly because it stars Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth).

You should definitely give this book a go (and then watch the film after to see what you think of the way it was filmed in comparison to the book).
